Years ag when I lived in SoCal, I drove out to Loma Linda U to interview people about their vegetarian diets, writing an article for a health magazine. Healthiest people I’ve ever seen, many in their eighties and even nineties.

I grew up in a Chicago suburb where our wonderful local hospital was run by Seventh Day Adventists. Excellent medical care. I tried being a vegetarian several years ago, but my MD, not in that same town, said “You cannot be vegetarian”. Something about a blood test. So now I eat a boneless, skinless chicken thigh every third day, one day organic non GMO tofu, and one day an Alaskan Salmon Burger from Costco. Repeat ad nauseam. No pork, no beef and I don’t miss it.

Forgot to mention poached pasture raised eggs every other morning, Panda Puffs cereal with almond milk the other mornings.

My neighbor is a vegan, pretty, very slim woman who walks 4 miles every day, rain, snow, or sunshine. Another neighbor I just met was astonished that I looked so good and moved so well at 88. No slouching, no walkers, none of that rotten stuff, try to walk a mile a day, Half mile is best I can do now though.

Me too and good for you!

At 80 I walk 3 to 5 miles every day and am pretty much vegan. Not 100% strict, though. I may eat some meat once or twice a week. I also am on a calorie reduced diet of about 1000 calories a day.

I feel great after beating cancer and kidney failure over 10 years ago at age 69. And still work full-time.

When I can't do this anymore, then it's time to go.

My view. God will keep me here until he decides otherwise. Either way -- I'm good with it.

Isn’t it amazing if we follow God’s original plan for our bodies? We end up healthier and live longer. Seventh day Adventists seem to have it all right.......Protestants who actually believe the Bible and live it.
