Who the F’ would live in NYC anyway... A porta potty would be more livable than anything in NYC. Smell better too
I used to stay at the “Smart Apartments” in Kyiv for $20/day ($600/month). 168 sf with a kitchen area, desk, shelves, bathroom, sofa/bed, washing machine, a/c-heater, TV, and a 12th floor view. Most of all for Kyiv, it was new and everything worked.
In 2017 after a divorce I bought a 950 square foot brick house, in move in condition, with 1.25 acres of land, for $57000 (South Alabama). My house payment, with taxes and insurance, is $473 a month. I have two super Walmarts within a 10 minute drive and I can be downtown in less than 25 minutes. All you people out there are crazy.
In Calif near Los Angeles and in the San Fernando valley a studio apt is at least $1,200 a month.
450sq/ft, water is included and some buildings also charge for electricity like the one next to the building I am in.
I see those neighbors with their doors and windows open as rates are near .30kw

I would refer you to the last sentence in my comment. Just for general information, my average power bill is $116 and water is less than $18.
