For “conservatives” in the 70’s there were flared pants. Sort of the RINO equivalent of bell bottoms.

I absolutely hated the clothes in the 70s. When I wasn’t in my Army uniforms, i wore denim jeans and western shirts with the sleeves cut off at the shoulders a la Jan-Michael Vincent.

We had Seafarer Brand Bell Bottom Dungarees, much cooler than Navy and Coast Guard standard issue.

Just the gentrification and wide scale acceptance and imitation of 60’s hippie fashion...where the youngn’s had to buy their clothes at army navy surplus stores.
Noticed same trend in the 90’s where kids wore mismatched patterns, styles, and fabrics, cause everything they wore was from the bin that had fashions that didn’t sell well and were cheap. IMHO
