This was negligence.

Dad had grown comfortable leaving the kids sleeping in the car so he could have some peace and quiet playing his video games.

His wife was a doctor. I'm guessing he was the "house husband."

I don't think he did this on purpose. It was gross negligence, complacency, and laziness.

There are just some mistakes you are not allowed to make as a parent because the consequences are catastrophic.

He *knew* that the car would shut off after 30 minutes.

Can't interrupt that sweet gaming time.

Not catastrophic for the killer however, which is why such people should be executed.

As a rational adult (female, disclaimer), FIRST thought:

“Why wasn’t mom charged? She KNEW he had a habit of doing this and in some degree was an enabler of this behavior.”

ONLY rational reason would be: She’s a female.

She really OUGHT to be charged.
