Green Day went beyond the lyrics of its songs to send a message earlier this week.
The legendary punk rockers who’s music is the soundtrack to many children of the '90s played a concert in Washington, D.C. Monday night at Nationals Park. Normally the home of MLB’s Washington Nationals, it became the setting of a political statement from the group’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong.
Green Day’s longtime front man held up a rubber Halloween mask of former president and second-term hopeful Donald Trump at the show to reveal the word “idiot” written across the forehead. The moment was captured on video and is going viral on social media.
Since then, there has been backlash for the 52-year-old Armstrong.
Political host Graham Allen wrote on X, “Green Day is complete and utter trash that sold their souls a long time ago! They should be boycotted and investigated for incitement of violence against President Trump!”

Exactly. Breakfast in America is one of the greatest rock albums ever.
No need to boycott. They were alright when I was 25, in the 90s, now they are irrelevant.
