Since audio and video are not always accurately synced I closed my eyes and listened to the audio to get to get an accurate sequence. First I heard the ball bounce from the court surface, next I heard the racket strings hitting the ball and finally the announcement. Given human reaction time to auditory input, the announcement was not able to influence the shot. Unlike many bad calls by the officials in other cases in this instance the player should offer an abject apology to the officials. The player's unwarranted rant resulted in loss of focus and schadenfreude in the rest of the match and subsequent events. Does anyone hear it differently?

Does anyone hear it differently?
Who cares?

The point should have been replayed. The umpire is scum. Coco is a classy woman and a devout Christian. She did not unleash obscenities like so many players throwing tantrums in years past. There should 100% be video replay reviews in the Olympics and major tournaments.

The Olympics suck. No reason for an American to watch if Caitlin Clark and Livvy Dunne are not in it.

The Olympics suck. No reason for an American to watch … At that point, your post was fully correct.

Gauff maligned Republicans, and she’s a poor sport.
