“The thing is the Russians have ALWAYS been willing to make that sacrifice. They are a stubborn people who cope with slaughter well, and will see things to the end. Like Grant, Putin will continue with a Universe of War pushing Ukraine’s resources until they fail or Ukraine gets enough airpower to change the land war.”

My Grandfather escaped from Russia. His father served in the Czar’s band so was considered a ‘White Russian.’ His earliest memory was running down the street with his mother holding his hand with one hand & his brother’s hand with her other hand. Their village thatched roof farm home was in flames behind her.

His father, him and his brother made it to work in the mines to earn passage for his mother & two sisters. No child labor laws.

When his mom and sisters finally were re-united in the U.S., his mother spoke to him in Russian. He did not respond or answer her. She cried saying he had forgotten her.
Instead, my young grandfather said: “I am an American.”

He serving in WWI for two years to earn his U.S. Citizenship.

Individuals vary. I use the generality of the Russian people. They have in the past, and likely will continue, to sacrifice in large numbers. They are a hard people historically speaking.

The first delivery of F-16 fighter jets from NATO allies has arrived in Ukraine, in a long-awaited move that may boost the war-torn nation’s ability to repel Russian attacks.

The deadline for the transfer of the US-made warplanes was the end of this month and it has been respected, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke under condition of anonymity.
