I feel that Leftists have never traveled this journey of maturity when it comes to issues such as the one I provided in this one example. They just thought at the age of 14 that something was a good idea, and never went past that.

Exactly right.

Censorship kept them isolated—just like today’s censorship and canceling and banning tries to keep us contained. Obviously censorship was more effective when newspapers were the primary means of mass communication.

While we are at it, Woodrow Wilson did something very similar. He locked up anyone dissenting about World War II. They actually rounded up Germans and interned them during WW I.

J. Edgar Hoover started his career rounding up political dissidents, or anyone who had been accused of it.

So controlling what people are allowed to hear has long been a key point of government control.

Now I know how they felt in 1861.

And the divide was just as irrational back then. The Northern people were taught to hate the South, and of course the Southern people learned to hate them right back.

Talk about the weather instead. If it becomes political and they talk about global warming, change the subject and talk about the recent Super Bowl instead.

Very opposite of how I do things. I absolutely confront anyone with politics if they want to bring the topic up. I point out stuff they didn't know, like Biden taking showers with his pre-teen daughter. How corrupt he is. How the evidence shows he's taking bribes from China and elsewhere. How he's let the illegals in by the millions.

I then go through the history of Democrat presidents and how they always were total f***ups.

I point out they have been brainwashed by the media liars, and they are simply regurgitating what other people have told them.

My niece and nephew started some pro-Biden stuff with me about 6 months ago, and before I was finished, they had flipped, and now they hate that greasy corrupt bastard.

Of course in my family, I am regarded with a significant degree of respect, and so perhaps they regarded the things I told them as authoritative.

What I’m reading in this thread is that a lot of people on our side are ashamed to defend their position and Trump. Shameful. All liberal family or friends know exactly what I believe and if they can’t handle it, they can learn to cope.

Read my previous comment. I will aggressively argue politics with anyone who is foolish enough to start such a conversation with me. :)

That’s how it is with my mother. She gets all her news from The View and has MSNBC running all her waking hours. Anything that dare challenge her absolute devotion to all things democrat liberal ends her in to a crying fit.

You should tell her that those bitches are "lying harpies" who wouldn't know truth if it bit them in their fat butts.

Don't mince words. Tell her these people lie for a living because they are part of the large Democrat/Industrial complex that controls the government.

She's being manipulated by corporate/government propaganda, and she's falling for it.

Yeah, it sounds crazy, but that is what it appears is actually going on.

Democrats get wealthy when they control government, and they do it through bribes, influence selling, and also from administrating government policies. When *THEY* are in power, they open up the spending floodgates in Washington DC, and all their people get some of that cash.

Of course large number of corporations getting rich from the flood of government money will insure their media allies say and do the right things to help insure Democrat control of government. The ownership of these companies and media have a large overlap, and of course people will do what they see as being in their best financial interest, and electing Democrats to open the floodgates of money, is *ALWAYS* in their best financial interest.

I chip away at them—but the direct in their face approach is doomed to failure. I have watched other people attempt that. Sometimes people have to be ready to change before they can change.

Last year I saw a video of a rant from a guy who was a liberal. He was complaining that he received a fund raising letter from Nancy Pelosi. He said he was tired of receiving all the fundraising letters from Democrats. He was fed up with it.

He looked up Nancy Pelosi. She's worth something like 150 million dollars. He said "And she has the gall to ask *ME* for money?" He then went on about how rich the other Democrats were, and kept wondering out loud why they weren't paying for this stuff themselves, rather than asking their supporters to pay for it.

It was a very good rant, and it should be spread to a lot of other liberals. I wish I could find it again, but I didn't keep a bookmark to it. I wish I had at the time but I didn't.

This is how you make cracks in their support. You point out they are expecting their supporters to do all the work, while they themselves live in wealth and luxury.

Democrats are very envious anyways, and this makes them angry at their people. Always point out how ridiculous it is for fabulously wealthy people to be "concerned" about poor people while they themselves are contributing very little to solve the problem.

THANK YOU!

It’s not mental illness.

Evil is a choice.

As always dude you got it backwards.

So you are saying the Southerners hated the Northerners first?

When did this start, and over what issue did they hate them?

My recollection of history is that the Southern states were not all that enamored of separating from England until Francis Marion's engagement with the British caused the Southern states to hate the British for the way they rode roughshod over them.

I don't recall reading anything about the Southern states having animosity for the Northern states in the history books I read. I *DO* recall reading how the Northern abolitionists called the Southerners all sorts of nasty names and questioned their morality, their honor, and their intelligence. This of course translated to their elected officials, who made public statements to that effect.

Oh, and she hates religion. She was livid Trump said he was saved by the grace of God when he wasn’t killed. She thinks that’s a dog whistle to the Religious Right to think Jesus intervened. She supports gays, trans, pronouns...

Where does mental illness intersect with faith, the law and society.

It all seems pretty fluid to me, now. As a kid, you could not marry two men nor would the government pay to have you sterilized and pay for hormone blockers, for people coming over illegally, too.

It’s backwards.
