First time I heard it was on a good stereo using headphones. Listened to the whole album nonstop. Last song being day in a life. Stunning experience.
I grew up in 60s with The Beatles - always THE best group ever.
That said, I once read their most prolific period began with the iconic opening chord of AHDN (UK) album and ending with the even more iconic closing chord of Pepper album.
