Don’t forget abbey road and even the white album. I believe the last thing the Beatles recorded together were the solos on the end. 3 guitarist 3 solos spots each all done in a single take. To me abbey road was their pinnacle only because it was more mature than the earlier ones. But all their albums were great. And they retired on top after less than 10 years. Incredible run.
Saul good man.
What? No “TIE ME KANGAROO DOWN SPORT?”
No “My Boomerang won’t come back!”
No “Leader of the Pack” or even “Leader of the Laundromat?”
No “Don’t go Near the Indians” or even “Don’t go near the Eskimos?”
No “Ahab the Arab”
No “Farmer John, I’m in Love with Your Daughter...”
No “Oh doctor Kildare, or doctor Casey”.(One two three four, tell the doctor where you’re sore)
Not much of a List I would say!
I bet he did it with more flair
All great.
Allow me to add
Hello Stranger....by Barbara Lewis.
Surfin’ Bird, Louie Louie, Little Deuce Coop, Charlie on the MTA, The Twist
Thanks for posting. Lots of great songs.
Sure.
But “ ‘80s New Wave/Alternative/Punk music” is just noise.
IMHO
Disagree if you’d like, opinions are like….
prevalent.
I’ll have to look that one up!
You’d remember “Henry, the VIII”
How can that be in the top 5?
Buddy Holly
It was just a joke, a light ribbing, that’s all. I figured the winky eye emoji would help, but I guess not...
I enjoy quite a bit from the 60s, actually — CCR, Steppenwolf, etc. And some of the greatest musical minds grew out of the 60s, like Jeff Lynne, David Bowie, and so on. All great.
Lots of memories on that list.
Days of Future Passed on a reel to reel was better than just “Nights in White Satin.”
God Only Knows-The Beach Boys
Given the current political climate
Hold Your Head Up by Argent
needs a major revival.
They’re coming to take me away haha!!
I would say ‘Ring of Fire’ and ‘River Deep Mountain High’ should have been ranked higher. Was ‘Rag Doll’ on there?
Horsehockey. The 60s started with Surf Music and whomever made up this list missed the really good stuff from back then. Most of the really great records were instrumentals - Walk, don’t Run, Miserlou, Wipeout, Pipeline - but the Beachboys led the pack with Surfin’ USA, Little deuce Coupe, and a whole bunch more.
The druggie crap filled the late ‘60s but the earlier music was a lot more fun and the dancing was great.
Yep, ‘Louie, Louie’ was on there, as it should have been. I think every garage band in the country played that song for decades afterward, and every band added their own raunchy lyrics.
