SACRAMENTO, Calif. - President Gerald Ford recalled seeing a hand holding a large handgun slipping through a crowd at a Sacramento park before a Secret Service agent lunged at Charles Manson disciple Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, according to a 38-year-old videotape released Monday.

The former president calmly and carefully recalled the attempted assassination in the videotaped testimony that would later be used in Fromme's trial. The roughly 20-minute interview taped in Washington was released by a federal court as the result of a motion filed by a local historical group.

In it, Ford gestures gently with his hands and sips water as he answers questions from a lawyer about what began as a routine morning in September 1975, before Fromme pushed through a crowd on the street, drew a semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at Ford.

So the “rules of engagement” didn’t require the SS to let Squeaky get a shot off first? Unfair.

The press is trying to make the assassination attempt on Trump a semi-regular event and to lessen the impact it had on the American people at large. Don't fall for it and don't feed into it. I like a joke just as much as the next person but many of these silly memes are just taking away from the seriousness of what happened, cheapens the death of the innocent hero-dad and injuries to the others in the line of fire.

This is really serious.

Hmm. Ford: attempted. Reagan: shot. Scalise: shot. Trump: shot.

I feel like there is a pattern here...

Actually she got the nickname from the sounds she made when 80 year old George Spahn squeezed her thigh during sex.

Blech. Disgusting human beings.

Squeaky Fromme had the drop on Ford's protective detail but pulled the trigger and nothing happened.

"At the time of the attack, Fromme’s 1911 held four rounds in the magazine, and the chamber was empty. The hammer fell with an audible snap. She exclaimed, “It wouldn’t go off!” Once subdued she said, “It didn’t go off. Can you believe it? It didn’t go off.”

Apparently she didn't have the finger strength to load more rounds in the magazine and had only cocked the hammer but never racked the slide.

From what I remember from those days, it was a US Army 1911 .45 sold as army surplus back in the Dark Ages.
It belonged to another person, Frome stole it but did not know how to use it. So she just pulled the trigger and nothing happened. (Thankfully)

LOL. If you’d asked me if the only president we had that was appointed by the CIA was still alive, I’d have said no.

Yeah, lefties tend to be violent. Similar pattern when it comes to US involvement in large foreign wars; there's usually a D@mocrat in the White House. So of course, the D@mocrats routinely accuse Republicans of being violent "warmongers"...
