I was confused when we first moved into the area. Upper Allen is south of Lower Allen. So one day I asked an LEO to explain. He said it isn’t latitude; it’s elevation. Near Harrisburg and the Susquehanna River you’re in LOWER Allen. Further south, toward Gettysburg, you’re at higher elevation, ergo; UPPER Allen Ttownship.
How would you explain Center Lovell, Maine? Half way up the mountain?
