Churches would lose their tax exempt status.

As long as registration drives are non-partisan, they are legal in churches (in most — maybe all — states).

We registered voters at our church in CA back in the ‘90s. Also, our pastor handed out lawn signs, which definitely is a no-no. He did say that if he were to be arrested for it, he’s OK with that.
