Insufficient work force to support retirees means either you kill retirees, which is a hell of a thing, you force elderly to work past their prime, which is a hell of a thing, or you start making babies while you can.

Have you heard of the Sythia? Neither have I, but apparently they were a great country that existed in present-day southwest Russia from 600 BC to 200 BC. They believed the same thing you did and are long gone.
