Those things are high maintainence. Are they worth it now that they can be harder to defend? I was thinking of how Russia’s navy in the Black Sea is doing.

Since we have aircraft that can reach around the world, could do more with non-nuclear missiles, carriers seem less valuable, floating targets.

Imagine how many unmanned aircraft we could fly, with pilots flying 9-5 almost literally from home in the US, to carry out the same missions?

They are worth it. The navy will adapt their tactics to defend them. Armed forces are constantly adapting and integrating new tsctics and weapons.

bad training makes it easy to damage those huge steam turbines...

complex lengthy exact series of events to both shut then down and start them back up
