No the majority of cars and engines were largely not that good. 80s horsepower in cars was pretty poor by todays standards.

Oh BS.
My carburated Dodge 318 Monaco would spin tires easily and my ‘69 Dart 225 did 90mph .Mom Olds 350 would push you back in the seat.

Airbags and ABS are the main things I consider valuable improvements.Especially since I probably would not have survived without them.

You can say that again! My Camaro was 245HP stock with a 2 barrel carb and maybe 30HP more with a bit of cam and headers. That was a 350 CID. Wife’s SKY is just under 300HP with a 122 CID turbo in line direct injection 4 cylinder! It’s on the short side of 300K too.
