I went to NYC when stationed in Newport, RI back in 1969...Went one weekend just for “sh*ts and grins”...
Found a bar across the street from Central Park that had containers of little breads, cheeses, meats, and veggies sitting all along the bar and it was free to eat from them as long as you had a drink in front of you...
Never ever found a bar as cool as this one was....
In summer of ‘69 my mother dropped my brother and I off at a teacher friend of her’s apt for the day. It was a brownstone in NYC in a residential area of similar buildings. Her apt was on about the 10th floor, overlooking a busy street. It faced similar buildings across the way.
The teacher was heading out for the day and we asked if she had any records. Iron Butterfly Inagodadavida was all she had. It was our favorite record at the time. We opened all the windows and let it rock for hours.
