No way to assess your personal situation.

But generally speaking insurance claims have bene rising a lot over the years and especially jumping up lately. Root causes - illegals, uninsured drivers, body shops jacking up prices because they know insurance will cover it, more totaled cars on collision claims, etc.

Some general info here.

I own 2 homes and six cars. I’m afraid to dig through recent insurance premiums.

I’m on a monthly payment schedule. All I know is that the premiums seem to increase all the time.

For now - I’ll be blissfully ignorant since there’s nothing to be done about it.

“Went with Progressive my insurance went down to less than I had been paying.”

Just got off the phone with them. Took a vehicle off and added one. Before we were all done on the phone she says “By the way... Did you know your policy payment is late?”

No... I didn’t and can I pay it now? She handled that too. $338 for three vehicles for six months. Liability only because I won’t drive new garbage.

They kept me covered and did not make it lapse, and didn’t charge me a late fee.

We watch justice Judy a lot. Every single time someone says they have progressive insurance, they report they refused to pay, even when it wasn’t their fault.

That would imply someone here behind the scenes are leaking posters ID, and targeting certain individuals.

One would think the state insurance commissioner would view that situation with disdain, if in fact the policy was liable.

Undocumented uninsured drivers, legalized pot users driving around stoned, and of course the enormous cost to repair electric cars, plus all the ambulance chasing lawyers.

A lot of other factors in play as well including all the ones driving the price of new cars which in turn drives the cost of repairs.

State insurance commissions are created for the sole benefit of insurance companies, as I discovered years ago when I looked into them.

“Now if I can figure out why the first digit of my four-figure property owner’s insurance premium has gone up for the last three years...”

That one is easy and they can tell you. Global warming. Storms destroying more property than 40 years ago...global warming. It of course has nothing to do with the fact that millions of baby boomers have moved to the sunbelt and built on the coast. No storm damage is up because you eat hamburgers and don’t freeze Granny in January.

Excellent point about the property owners insurance. These companies/CEOs are as greedy as they come. You should see some of the opulent corporate hi rise buildings these major insurance carriers have.

They get away with this robbery because they can. And nearly everyone who gets their premiums jacked up, never filed a claim, and have spotless driving records.

This s**t is robbery.

Perhaps you were being undercharged for years?

We didn’t experience 80% inflation.

They’re now forced into ‘Community Pricing’ where the cost of the far more expensive to repair newer cars (EV’s of course, but also normal cars) has to be folded into what everyone pays, so as to lessen the impact of insuring the newer cars.

I would also suspect that other factors are involved that are a bit ‘too sensitive’ to discuss, including increased auto-related crime and trying to smooth out the costs in ‘less advantaged’ neighborhoods.

Wow, mandating purchase from a business backed up by jail time.

How about not making it so insurance pays only for those whose car it is purchased for. The insurance companies make it so I pay for your damage and you pay for mine. That is a set up for a monopoly. No mandatory insurance laws, prices go down. We have a RIGHT TO TRAVEL, that means by foot, bike, motorcycle, car, truck, plane or by boat. Since it is a RIGHT, you shouldn’t be charging for insurance. How about mandatory insurance to own a weapon? For expressing your opinion? We have a RIGHT to travel, and a wheeled device is what is most common.

BTW if you studied political correctness you would know that we are close to a unified field theory that explains all social ills. Thanks to intersectionality we know that everything bad in the world can be explained by racism/colonialism and the homophobia/transphobia/sexism complex and global warming. Insurance go up? Explained. Crime go up Explained. Inflation. Explained. Johnny can’t read. Explained. Intersectionality can loop in all isms and global warming. It is beautiful.

I guess it depends on the state... Ours loves to go after those “big greedy corporations”.

I live rural southern middle Tennessee- Proressive went up 100% so my agent found an insurer that brought my payments $100 less than my original amount. I drive a 2008 with 250k miles - I’ll keep it till the wheels fall off.

What I was saying was that if you choose to drive a car you must have insurance , not for yourself but for those you may hit or injure.
