No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark made more history on Saturday afternoon during the Indiana Fever's matchup with the New York Liberty. With her 10th rebound early in the fourth quarter, she became the first rookie to record a triple-double.
She is also the first player in Fever history to record a triple-double as Indiana rallied to beat the Liberty 83-78. She finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists.
Clark got off to a terrific start, as she scored the first five points for the Fever and made three 3-pointers in the first quarter to help them build an early double-digit lead. All told, she either scored or assisted on 12 of the team's 17 field goals in the first half. While she wasn't able to keep up quite that level of influence in the second half, she did so much work early that she didn't need long to get her triple-double.

This was Clark's fourth game this season with at least 10 assists, which is second only to Ticha Penicheiro all-time for rookies. It was also her fourth points-assists double-double, which gives her the rookie record in that category.
New York has the best record in the WNBA, and Indiana is 8th. The game was in Indiana.
Anyone who is sleeping on Angel Reese though, is wrong. She has a league record 12 double doubles, and is leading the whole league in rebounds. When Chicago played Indiana a few games ago, Indiana was leading by 15, and had a 12 point lead late in the 4th quarter, and Reese took the team on her back and won the game, leading both teams in points, as well as rebounds. Clark was fine that day, but Reese outplayed everyone on the court.
Wasn’t Angel Reese one of the thugs illegally fouling Clark and no one suspending or even ejecting the thug from the game?
I think she got a T, but it looked like it was a play on the ball to me. She did, however cheer, when her teammate knocked Clark down.
Until the fists fly, the rivalry is good for the league. The rivalries of the 1970’s is what marketed the NBA.
“Triple double” used to be my nickname for Larry “triple double” Bird. The hick from French Lick (Indiana).
Clark is certainly in trouble now.....
Who also, is incidentally, the NBA GOAT in trash talking.
Good for her, but I’m still not watching.
No one is making you.
She will make an awesome addition to the Olympic team.......oh yeah that’s right.......somebody has their head up their ass
It is funny how the press focuses on first. There is generally descriptors as sex, race, sexual preference, age, and so on.
What is the big deal? I can get a triple double at In-n-Out any time I want.
Almost half of Reese’s rebounds are offensive rebounds, usually after missing her own layup.
Well, there’s many saying Reese is such a poor shooter she’s usually collecting rebounds from her own shots. I saw a video compilation making this point.
That said, I’m no expert on BB...especially WNBA.
How many guards make double-digit rebounds? WHY is a guard making rebounds? That’s the only way she can get her hands on the ball is to get it herself!
I watched the game today and have watched several other Indiana games. To me the most impressive thing about Clark’s game so far is her passing and assists. She sees openings and makes passes few players, female or male, ever make. She’s third in the league in assists with 7.1, and that average will likely climb if she keeps having these 10+ assist games she’s had recently.
Of course, she also makes too many turnovers, but she’ll probably reduce those as she gains more and more experience playing against bigger and quicker opponents. Overall she’s a very talented, all round player and enjoyable to watch.
Have watched more WNBA this half-season than in all the prior history of the league.
“...somebody has their head up their ass”
They sure were. They were looking at their pocketbook because if she gets hurt in Paris, the seats go empty when the Fever come through and she’s not on the floor. So much for the popcorn concession. Pro sports in the US is about money, not the game. She can be the prodical daughter to the league which is losing money and historically goes broke so there are a large amount teams leaving for new locations. So getting her hammered in the violent world of OIC ball, is just flat stupid.
A good article to illustrate the funding and control process is this:

I don’t even know what it is.
You’re saying it’s edible?
Well she’s just awful… How dare she when you have all these amazing POC players. She should have just stopped… /s
