No, not even close. San Francisco is about 122 West Longitude. Melborne is about 122 East longitude, or almost half way around the earth.
Now, latitude they are pretty close. 37 and some change.
As they taught me in elementary school, Longitude are the same long, running from pole to pole.

Strange some areas with the same latitude have different weather patterns. Could it be the earth spins at an angle?

They told me in school that “longitude” is the long part of the ladder. But it doesn’t help. “Latitude” also has a “ladda” in it, and that makes things confusing.
