Caesar Rodney

Yes. Despite being depicted as near-death in the Broadway musical 1776, Rodney died in 1784.

After the vote for Independency, Rodney served in the Second Continental Congress for the rest of the year, and then became the 4th governor of Delaware from 1778 to 1781.

Rodney died June 26, 1784 at age 55.

Isn't it ironic that the nation was formed by the last-minute vote from a Delaware future governor, and is on track to be destroyed by a Delaware Senator, Vice President, and now President?
