You raise an important point. Society needs physicists and mathematicians. But we need way, way more tradespeople.

Very true. I consider myself pretty good on both fronts (academic and trades), but I never made it to a point of rebuilding a transmission, nor an engine for that matter (although I did successfully rebuild a cylinder head and tons of other stuff on cars).
But your point is excellent - there almost certainly are young kids who can rebuild this equipment - it would sure be nice to also celebrate them and make them into role models for millions of ‘lesser’ Americans (as the Left views them, until they more munitions to attack The Putin, that is).
