Kentucky judge throws out Jewish mothers' lawsuit challenging the state's abortion ban

A Kentucky judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by three Jewish mothers who argued that the state's near-total abortion ban violated the religious freedoms of those who believe life begins at birth, not conception.

On Friday evening, Jefferson County Circuit Judge Brian Edwards said the group of women lacked standing to bring the case and sided with the state's attorney general, who defended the state's abortion laws.

In Kentucky, abortions are banned in almost all circumstances except in cases when a pregnant woman's life is in imminent danger of death or permanent injury.

The plaintiffs — Lisa Sobel, Jessica Kalb and Sarah Baron — filed a suit in 2022 on the grounds that the state's ban not only endangered their health but was at odds with their Jewish faith.

Ugly bitch on the left has a tattoo on her ankle. It is my understanding the Jewish religion forbids that.

It also forbids abortion unless the child becomes a "pursuer", meaning someone who would harm the woman.

Clearly these women are cafeteria Jews. They only choose what they want out of their religion and leave the rest.

Absurd - religious belief does not protect murder and other criminal acts. Arson is banned as well - if someone claims it violates their religion to not torch the neighborhood that does not make it permissible conduct nor it would cause the laws against arson to be voided as unconstitutional.

And which Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) are they reading which makes elective abortion permissible conduct? This text is also very clear on things such as homosexuality - what are their views on same-sex marriage? Since they claim it is their beliefs under Judaism that prompted this lawsuit?
