No one can know what Trump would say as president

Trump has promised to end the war quickly.

Donald Trump keeps his promises.

And, NATO membership is a deterrent against what Russia or any other aggressor country would do.

Russia hasn't been aggressor. Again, we promised Russia no eastward expansion of NATO and expanded NATO to its borders. Ukraine PLEDGED neutrality after the fall of Soviet Union and broke its promise.

Get this through your skull -- Ukraine will cease to exist before Russia allows it to join NATO. Russia considers a NATO military build up in Ukraine and grave threat to its national security.

And, given that Kaja Kallas and Duda have been talking about breaking Russia into six different countries, echoing a RAND study proposal, Russia has every reason to believe NATO in Ukraine is a threat to its existence.

Nobody can or should promise Russia anything when it comes to whatever NATO does or will do. NATO is the defense against Russia's aggressive policies. Anyone that believes anything Putin/Russia says, is hugely naive. Promises are just promises and not policies. No country should ever promise that NATO won't expand. Expansion of NATO depends on what nations want to insure that Russia wont attack or intrude into their territories. Russia's policies and history of aggression is why NATO exists. Get that clear in your head.

And,Trump can promise anything during the campaign, but, when it comes to actually governing, things can actually be different, and most of all Trump will not abandon Ukraine. Get that through your head too.
