CHICAGO — Police briefly pursued a vehicle occupied by two gunmen after shots were fired in River North overnight. A CPD supervisor ordered officers to terminate efforts to stop the suspects’ vehicle.
The shots were fired in the 100 block of West Hubbard, between Clark and LaSalle, around 1:53 a.m. A bullet struck a storefront window, but there were no reported injuries. Police found ten shell casings on Hubbard Street.
Witnesses reported that they saw a man with a rifle traveling through the area in a gray Hyundai Santa Fe around the time of the shooting. Surveillance video showed two men, both armed with guns, returning to a white Lincoln that sped from the scene.
Officers quickly spotted the Lincoln in the Loop and tried to pull it over as it hit the Dan Ryan Expressway. However, in keeping with the police department’s strict limitations on vehicle pursuits, a sergeant ordered an immediate termination of apprehension efforts.
The officers reported that they last saw the Lincoln traveling outbound on the Stevenson Expressway.

Hand me a barf bag please
LA pursuits are much more fun since they usually involve a helicopter.
“a sergeant ordered an immediate termination of apprehension efforts.”
That’ll teach ‘em! Lol!
They got what they voted for.....they get no sympathy from me.
““I’m working closely with some attorneys around drafting that language so that we can make sure that it fits within the parameters of the Illinois State Police. And again, if the Illinois State Police are doing this, there’s no reason why CPD can’t do this,” Villegas said, according to Block Club Chicago.
More than six months later, no changes to the pursuit policy have been announced.”
I wonder if he attempted and was shut down or ignored or threatened? Or it it takes longer?
Gotaway....

Old song
Hot Rod Lincoln
by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen
My pappy said, “Son, you’re gonna’ drive me to drinkin’
If you don’t stop drivin’ that Hot Rod Lincoln.”
Now the fellas was ribbin’ me for bein’ behind,
So I thought I’d make the Lincoln unwind.
Took my foot off the gas and man alive,
I shoved it on down into overdrive.
Wound it up to a hundred-and-ten
My speedometer said that I hit top end.
My foot was blue, like lead to the floor.
That’s all there is and there ain’t no more.
Now the boys all thought I’d lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said, “Slow down! I see spots!
The lines on the road just look like dots.”
Took a corner; sideswiped a truck,
Crossed my fingers just for luck.
My fenders was clickin’ the guardrail posts.
The guy beside me was white as a ghost.
Smoke was comin’ from out of the back
When I started to gain on that Cadillac.
Knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass.
Don’t you know by then we’d be low on gas?
We had flames comin’ from out of the side.
Feel the tension. Man! What a ride!
I said, “Look out, boys, I’ve got a license to fly!”
And that Caddy pulled over and let us by.
Now all of a sudden she started to knockin’,
And down in the dips she started to rockin’.
I looked in my mirror; a red light was blinkin’
The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln!
They arrested me and they put me in jail.
And called my pappy to throw my bail.
And he said, “Son, you’re gonna’ drive me to drinkin’
If you don’t stop drivin’ that Hot... Rod... Lincoln!”
