Ok, a thought just occurred to me. The scuttlebut has been that the left wants to replace Joe and his performance at the debate might be the trigger. What better way to accomplish this than for Tapper and Bash to sabotage Joe? Joe is expecting soft balls and kid gloves. Questions about abortion and J6. What if they turn the tables and hammer him on the economy, immigration, etc? Get him flustered and yelling incoherently? All it would take would be a back-channel communication from Obama's crew to get this done.

And Trump’s staff should CLEAN & DETOXIFY the lectern and surrounding areas ahead of time. Once cleaned the facilities should be under CONSTANT and EFFECTIVE surveillance by trusted Trump staffers.
Air conditioning vents should be similarly sanitized. At the time of the debates, air flows (volumes and speed) and temperatures directed toward BOTH CANDIDATES should be continuously monitored by BOTH campaigns to immediately detect ANY shenanigans,
Highly plausible, but I sure as hell hope not. I want Joe on the ballot in Nov.
I think there would be too much fear of being caught, undermining whatever support the Dems had.
Biden’s hardcore voters would be royally pissed for insiders to derail the candidate they had contributed to, voted for in the primaries, and been told 1000 times was sharper than a serpent’s tooth. Meanwhile the replacement would be suspected of using dirty tricks to steal a unearned nomination. It would be a very dangerous ploy. The Dems best hope is for Biden to drop dead in the traces.
It would be best for Joe’s debate performance to be poor, but not disasterous, leaving the Dems uncertain about Biden as they head into an ugly, divisive convention, where their corruption and perfidy will be on full display.
