Not everyone can be hypnotized - a common phrase I've heard is, 'you have to be suggestible to be hypnotized.'

One magician I've worked with who does hypnotism said it's strong-willed people that usually do the best, because they can better control their mind and allow it to happen. Obviously it won't work if they fight it though

The techniques are different with resistant people. You must turn their defenses within them.

One powerful way is to observe something that they are already doing and inform them that what they ate doing is a sign that they are hypnotized.

They will be so careful to not do what you observed them doing that they become vulnerable and presto, they are in a trance.
