The Yak 52 is more along the lines of the Australian “Wirraway” fighter that was a domestically produced armed version of the USA’s North American T-6 trainer. The T-6 was called “Harvard” by the British and Canadians.

The T-6 was called “Harvard” by the British and Canadians.

In the US, it's called the Texan or the Mosquito. In Southern California, there's a squad of T6's that does flyovers at patriotic ceremonies.

Except these Yaks aren’t even armed. They are using the early World War I tactic of the observer potshotting from the back seat. Maybe it would be better to compare it to a Taube.
