Video from multiple reporters showed McIlroy leave the venue hastily, seeming to spin his tires before driving out of the parking lot.

But the simple isn’t always so simple in golf.
And for some reason he can play the hell out of East Lake at the Tour Championship.

I remember that one. At the end the golfers were about to collapse. I believe it was very hot, and the announcers made a point about how long the course was and how hilly it was. No one did very well. It was tough.
For me it was the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, with a 19-hole Monday playoff between Woods and Rocco Mediate. Both at only -1 at the end of regulation play. Lee Westwood at even par, and everyone else at +2 or higher. Really pulled for Rocco, but it was Woods, bad leg and all, who prevailed.
The USGA guys that prep those courses do not mess around.
They prep a course so the pros have to work.
I don’t remember what year it was, but the players could have swung freely off the tee except for the fact that missing the fairway or running out was a disaster
I love it when the scoring is more US Open scores instead high teens and beyond.
Yes Rory did not come out of the country club set and he has made it to the top of the golf world on his talent and hard work. He has stood with the
PGA and turned down the LIV millions. I was at the tournament Saturday and when Rory came off the tenth green on his way to 11 tee, he stopped to greet a wheelchair-bound kid and gave him a glove and a ball. That was a very nice gesture in the middle of a competitive round. IMHO, he’s a good guy and is only interested in what’s best for the game. Yes he skipped the presser yesterday but that was a crushing and very public failure. Is he not entitled to a bit of pique?!
Na, the greens at Pinehurst won.
