The mix could have been a little less guitar and a little more voice. To me the words of a song, any song, not just this one, are the best part.............

We’re teetering on the brink of nuclear war and this is news? VDH says that great civilizations perish because they don’t believe they ever will.

You can be sure, that particular Crow will never forget the faces of the people who freed him. He will communicate this knowledge to all of his pals, too. I’ve always heard that Crows are very bright, and have a tight memory of people or certain features of that person in that location.
So the next day that crow sees a fire truck he will swoop down to see his friends and get flattened on the road.
Not so long ago a crow outside was a harbinger of death.
Crows have long been associated, for instance, with mystery and magic. While many believe that seeing a crow is a harbinger of death, others say the presence of a dead crow means the end of bad things and the beginning of all things new and good.

I fed a crow each morning for several months. Then we sold our old acreage and moved about 20 miles into small neighborhood in town. Took the crow about a week to find me. I figured he must have recognized the car in the driveway. He got 1/2 piece of bread with tuna for his expertise.

In The Godfather, a crow calls out right before Carlo meets the piano wire.

“You shall see a cow on the roof of a cotton house, huh oh so many startlings.”![](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/pukq_XJmM-k/maxresdefault.jpg)
You seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains...
And you will find a fortune, though it will not be the fortune you seek...But first, first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril, uh-huh, and pregnant with adventure. You shall see things wonderful to tell. You shall see a cow on the roof of a cottonhouse, uh-huh, and oh, so many startlements...I cannot say how long this road shall be. But fear not the obstacles in your path, for Fate has vouchsafed your reward. And though the road may wind, and yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye foller the way...

Of course. You know, I remember those chain gangs from my youth in Georgia and Alabama. They'd spray tar and the convicts would shovel the gravel onto it.

I miss the old South so much. Driving in south Georgia with the red clay off the side of the roads, gray cabins and shacks, iron pot in the front yard, canyons, rivers and streams, buzzing heat...
