The question was not about replacing EV with ICE, but next car being ICE.

The ICE cars starting in 2026 will be a spy center on wheels. The car gets to decide if you get to drive (present drunk drivers, doncha' know?). I am holding on to our 2004 Chevy Venture and 2018 Toyota Avalon and going full-Cuba on car maintenance.

My next car may very well be a 60’s era Ford Falcon.

I have a new 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 on order and that's one of reasons why. That and speed limiters and kill switches. I'm 70, so this is probably the last truck I get that's set up for towing. If it lasts 10 years, then definitely the last truck I'll own.

“”The ICE cars starting in 2026 will be a spy center on wheels. The car gets to decide if you get to drive””

Kalifornia wants to mandate that all EVs have bidirectional charging. There is a Los Angeles Council member who stated something close to “we (GOVERNMENT) should be able to use all the electricity stored in all the EVs while the people are sleeping.”

So, you yourself pay for the charging, but you could wake up in the morning and, oops, no energy to get to work! The powers that be decide: To each according to their need, from each according to the ability.

Lovely, just lovely.
