If you factor savings in fuel and maintenance costs the EV comes out ahead.

Still a lot less than replacing an EV battery. People have given up on their EVs when faced with the cost of replacing an EV battery, which in some cases have been higher priced than the original cost of the entire vehicle.
EVs may have been a good idea at one time, but, they were never a good idea to the pocketbooks, or as replacements for ICE vehicles.
