[ransomnote's sidenote: I came across a wikipedia article explaining that there's a push to make the western media spell Kyiv and not Kyiev because the first is Ukrainian spelling and the latter is Russian spelling:

Pointless virtue signaling. Then, why not use every foreign country's preferred spelling of its capital?

Kobenhavn, not Copenhagen.

Den Haag, not The Hague.

Beograd, not Belgrade.

Wien, not Vienna.

Roma, not Rome.

Warszawa, not Warsaw.

etc.

Agreed. I believe the Ukraine is and has been losing the proxy war for some time so I don't think they're really in a position to make the claim only their spelling is socially exceptable, unless they want to bring that request to the negotiating table when they are defeated.

I didn't know about that social push until I completed most of my notes, otherwise I'd spell it with the 'e' just to annoy the so called media 'elites'.
