I was raised cowboy fashion due to living on the High Plains’ Ranches and farms from the 1940s till the Urban Cowboy craze hit in the early 1980s. So many people did not know how to wear the clothes it made me sick. I tossed the boots and hat in the closet and till the 1990s wore a golf cap.

Then I went back to cowboy dress in the 1990s but never again felt comfortable in it as new ridiculous hat styles were in.
Now I wear hiking hats I bought in Jackson Wy and Moab UT.

Thirty years ago we took a vacation back to the old home place on the High Plains. Mom went into the back to cash a check and as we went in out came a man dressed cowboy from head to toe. We gave him a quick glance and recognized a REAL LOCAL COWBOY. We just knew!
Several months later I took mom to her doctor. As we sat in the office out came a young man also dressed cowboy from head to toe. From the spangles on his black hat, to the duster in a no dust area to the boots with spangles on them we realized here was a COWBOY WANNABEE.

I still have the Stetson hat I bought in 1974 in Farmington NM.
