Livonia is in the Detroit metropolitan area. There was a tornado in Portage, Michigan, last month (just south of Kalamazoo) but that one didn’t kill anyone.

Stuff happens that nobody expects.
It’s tragic that people died when it happened unexpectedly, but that after all, is life. Weirder things than that have taken people’s lives. We are guaranteed nothing in this life but trouble.
I remember hearing of a waterspout in the SF Bay many years ago, and my parent’s neighbor in the South Bay had their trampoline lodged in a tree by a small twister. We had one touch down in Bernalillo when we lived in NM.
They seem to be everywhere!
