Perhaps the Russians don't realize that in a war of attrition you want to attrit the other side, not your own men.

Once they conquered Ukraine the real slaughter of Ukrainians would begin as blood debts would need to be paid for all the hundred of thousands of dead Russians Putrid ordered into meat charges.
