I’m glad they defined a heat wave for us. I’ve always wondered what that was.
And their experts telling us that a heat wave increases fire danger. I had no idea.
I’m especially thankful they told us to drink water when it gets hot (“hydrated” being the hip, new, fashionable way to say “drink water”). It never would have occurred to me to drink water when I feel thirsty.
How did we ever get along without Accuweather?
How hot does it really get “out West’?
Hot enough for overhead power lines to droop near ground?
Enough for pavement on roads to soften or buckle?
In the UP of Michigan, we used to worry about old fallen blue and green glass insulators from telegraph lines accidentally focusing sun rays and starting fires in brush. I’ve dug a few out of brushy ditches by railroad tracks. Collectible, they are now.
