While working abroad a few years ago, I was notified to escort one of my fellow co-workers to the US Embassy, DOS stamped his Passport as expired, gave him a one way entry stamp on it .

His crime? His ex wife filed in the State of California “ non payment of child support charges “. He was in fact paying her, hired a lawyer, and two years later received a new passport….BUT he lost his job and incurred $4,000 in lawyer fees.
