The only reason why my summer bill from SMUD (my local electric utility) is going to hit the roof is because of three-tier summer pricing, especially between 1700 to 2000 hours Pacific time. Take that out and my bill is far more reasonable from October to May.

That’s peak power, and there are good, rational economic reasons involving capital investment in generating capacity why that is so expensive.

Figure out how to use less energy in that time frame.
