President Donald Trump is set to be sentenced on July 11, four days before the GOP convention, and there's every indication that crooked Judge Merchan will impose jail time, as much as one year.
Why not declare Trump the official nominee now?
Hold a virtual nominating process with the chairman of each state delegation, then follow up in Milwaukee on July 15th for a ceremonial celebration.

Once Trump is officially the Republican Nominee for President, sentencing him with jail time will be obviously political.
If they go ahead and sentence him to jail, then he all the more looks like the hero he is.

I can’t imagine the GOPe would allow that to happen. I’d be willing to bet they’re quietly scheming right now to find a way to pull a switcheroo at the convention, nominating someone like “Nikki” “Haley” in his place . . . for the good of the country and the party, of course.
GOP co owns the swamp but maybe they’ll choose an optic to try to con the country into believing they really aren’t giddy about Trump having to face their Deep State music..

You might be right, but it seems to me, that in this day and age, it would be very easy to have the various states commit their delegates to the candidates of their choice.
Make it like a live telethon on July 4th, as someone here as already suggested.

The Democrats aren’t waiting for their convention to nominate Biden. They’re doing it virtually because that is required for his name to be on the Ohio ballot.
Republicans can do the same and we should do it on July 4. That would block Haley from muscling her way to the nomination and it would be an act of defiance against the judge and the Democrats’ kangaroo court. Do it, Republicans!
And I repeat here, what are the odds that Trumps first Impeachment Prosecutor (Schiff) , would one of the top clients of a company whose president is the daughter of the Judge overseeing Trumps trial.
