Gee, the WG&F Game Warden had no problem with the shoot when I reported it and it was his suggestion to 1) tan the pelt and 2) try the bear meat.
IMHO the best use for black bear meat is sausage. As a ground meat it was passable but not as good as beef, bison, deer, or elk. It must be thoroughly cooked due to the crap that bears eat like road kill. Thus it’s useless for steaks unless you like well done. It’s too tough for jerky.
The fat made for a good soap. Beef fat makes the best soap IMHO.
In short, self defense is 100% legal in Wyoming regardless of what you’re defending against.
It’s only in Democrat states where they expect you to die if a bear wants to eat you. I gather you live in one of those places?
