I didn't say that.

You ain't right.

I have had lots of Emily Latella moments over the years.

However, I quoted your exact words from post 15. Everyone can go back and look it up.

“If you never heard of Josh Gibson you're not a baseball fan.” 5/28/2024, 8:52:45 PM · 15 of 77 ifinnegan to Golden Eagle; rdl6989

Josh Gibson has been dead for almost 70 years. A lot of baseball fans have no awareness of anything from the time period during which he lived and played baseball. And the convoluted MLB piece on him is a joke. Here are a few excerpts,

“Gibson is even more shrouded in myth, given the fact that he toiled in the Negro Leagues, for which official data is limited, with teams having played rambling schedules against a variety of competition. Many accounts exist of Gibson making the old Yankee Stadium seem small, supposedly hitting a ball 580 feet into the upper reaches of the bleachers, or knocking the ball out of the ballpark completely. There may have been some exaggeration involved in those tales, as there often are about events that predated modern TV broadcasts and record keeping.”

“His Hall of Fame plaque posits that he “hit almost 800 home runs in league and independent baseball during his 17-year career,” though only a small percentage of those are official. Other estimates range lower or higher – even up toward four digits – but the true number is a mystery.”

If people want to buy into this politically correct feel-good nonsense... who cares? But saying that if they have not heard of it that they are "not a baseball fan" is silly.

I wrote if you haven’t heard of Josh Gibson.

You changed it to:

“ So, if you are not aware of stats from negro league baseball from 80 to 100 years ago.”

Very different.

I’d say the same about Satchel Paige.

I’m not talking about arcane stats from 100 years ago in Negro Leagues (or Major Leagues for that matter.)
