I don’t think bias-ply drag slicks have changed that much. There are radial drag slicks now, but aren’t necessarily quicker.
Not sure what type of tires were used in the 427.

Not sure what type of tires were used in the 427. Goodyear Blue Streaks, probably. Predecessor of the Goodyear Eagle race tires.
