It is an unkind word with no context that is positive and shouldn’t be said. However, it was up to the teacher to take proper disciplinary measures, like reporting the student to the office and not take measures into hus own hands.

While the N-word is considered offensive to many (or most) countries, according to Wikipedia, in Latin and Spanish, Negro is the word for “black” and is the only way to refer to that color.
For the hard-of-hearing like me, I have a difficult time differentiating between the spoken N-word and negro, and I don’t always know if someone is using the word in an offensive way or not.

The enword is a good example of a slur. It is taking a certain innocuous word, Spanish for ‘black’ and deliberately mispronouncing it in order to create an effect.
With that said, the notion that if the speaker of the word is caucasian it gives any African hearer a ‘free punch’ has got to go. Hope this a-clown never gets to work around kids again.
