Those look nearly exactly like deep fried locusts..which the Africans accurately call desert shrimp. Why because they taste identically to deep fried prawns. I would put a $100 bet they taste like fried shrimp. Having personally had fried locusts just like that in Africa I can confirm the taste. Grasshoppers are good as well the Mexicans make a mighty fine taco with them. You can get them for $5 or more each in Austin at a number if high end Mexican restaurants. Much of the world eats insects or insect products on a regular basis it’s all in people heads. Protein is protein. Go to any Asian market and you will be bewildered with the array of insects plus every other manner of protein being sold. People who lack world class travel show it in spades on threads like this. No one says eat cockroaches from NYC streets , but the Vietnamese eat a species of giant roach from rice paddies skewered on sticks and roasted as satay. The Thai have a dizzying array of scorpions, beatles and caterpillars for sale everywhere.
