The Rangers hadn’t trailed in a series this postseason, until the Panthers made themselves right at home in the Concrete Jungle to kick off the Eastern Conference Final.
It took 10 games and two rounds to get here, but the Blueshirts have finally met their match in a Florida team that became the first club to shut them out this postseason with an empty-net-goal-abetted 3-0 win in Game 1 Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, landing the first blow in the fight for a Stanley Cup Final berth...

It’s not that the Rangers didn’t generate scoring chances, but there was a sort of disconnect that diminished the overall quality of their opportunities, which also led to self-inflicted mistakes the Panthers almost always took advantage of.
Florida was just as nasty and productive below the hash marks as it’s known to be.
The Panthers put pressure on the Rangers in all situations.
Go Stars! And Go Mavericks!
Hey now!
I think the Panthers (who are as dirty, nasty, and tough as any team in the league) will take care of the Rangers, but will struggle w/ the West again in the Cup Finals
I wonder if S.A.S. and Spike Lee were there tonight?
Rangers seemed to get beat to the puck most of the time. Ice was tilted for sure..
Miami actually did what Dallas is trying to do this year, get to both the NHL and NBA Finals.
Plus we already have the Texas Rangers as the current MLB Champs.
So it’s setting up where DFW could potentially have three championship teams at the same time. And then, there are The Cowboys....Bwahahahahahaha!
...you mean Sunrise, not Miami.
The Heat only wished they played in Sunrise. Or WPB. Or Jupiter. Or Jensen Beach. Or Vero Beach.....
Ok, South Florida then.
Just like with the Cowboys and Rangers playing in Arlington. So they use “North Texas”.
Heck, the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey.
The ones that can pick and choose where they live (like golfers) choose Jupiter - some DFW I admit.
The Marlins almost moved to WPB to bring fans from Daytona to Miami. Don King owned a big property (the Palm Beach Jai Alai Fronton) off 45th st (I-95 exit). Given their attendance, they could have fit in Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter (which was actually engineered beforehand to be expandable b/c they knew Miami wouldn’t draw).
Did they steal it, or did they just win?
They won it. The Rangers were outplayed. The second goal was an own goal. The Ranger defenseman trying to clear a slow centering pass across the goal ended up putting the puck between Shesterkins's legs and into the goal.
On offense Ranger's couldn't seem to lift the puck off the ice. Many of Bobrovsky's saves were off his pads stretched across the ice. I could only watch the game intermittently but the Ranger opportunities I saw needed to be 12 inches higher and they would have been in the net.
I’m a 60 year Rangers fan and I must say the Panthers outplayed them last night. If Schneider’s post ringer goes in, it’s an entirely different game. But then again, if my mother had wheels she would be a wagon.
“Go Stars! And Go Mavericks!”
I’m hoping the Stars and Rangers get in so I can fly to Dallas for the game.

As long as there aren’t any stick fouls, flying elbows or hitting from behind I say let them beat the crap out of each other. It is hockey after all and as long as the refs are consistent in their calls I am totally onboard. My son refs college hockey and said the refs were consistent.

Same thing happened in their previous series against the Canes, when the Rangers were out-shot by at least 60 or 70. Yet they managed to win with top-notch goaltending and a good power play. Not going to happen against Florida though. Too strong. Panthers in 5 or 6.
Yeah - the Panthers don’t back down. The Rangers lost some blood last night - literally. I still think they’ll struggle scoring goals against the west winner though.
Edmonton Dal, overtime ... #2
