May 25, 2024In his claim, Biden says he applied to the Naval Academy in order to play football. He was appointed to the Naval Academy by former Delaware Sen. J. Caleb Boggs (R) in 1965. However, the president graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965, which makes it unlikely he would have applied to attend the Naval Academy then.
Biden continues to claim that he turned down the offer after finding out that NFL Heisman Trophy winners Joe Bellino and Staubach were playing on the U.S. Naval Academy football team then.
Also, Roger Staubach graduated from West Point in 1965; his football career at West point ended in 1964.
I don’t know if Biden said he was asked to do something about Covid 19 in 2016, but if he did he was mistaken, because Covid 19 is called 19 because it first came to light in 2019. I think there may have been some other virus issue in 2016 that was NOT Covid. We had several virus scares that decade. In 2016, Zika, spread by mosquitoes, was a significant issue with the most US cases in Florida, but also in other states.
THe Toledo virus referred to may have been a swine flu cluster occurring in ohio and another state affecting 18 people. The link below describes the concern with this issue and steps taken to resolve it. Flu transmission between humans and swine and vice versa is a serious concern.
