I went shopping at a store, loaded up on some good stuff. At the register the lady asked if I wanted to “join their buying club” and save $14?!! I said sure! She cleverly (she thought) hid the fact that she was signing me up for a new credit card.
I played dumb. Waited for the statement, paid it in full and canceled the credit card.
That is a Kohls ploy. I’ve done it several times. Pay it off, cancel. Then do it again.
