Absolutely! While those jocks are tremendously talented, it is the HORSE!!!! You could tell he loved that horse and realized it was a privilege to be up.
Agree. I had never seen that before. IMO that affectation from jockey resulted in SeizetheGrey giving all he had. But I am an animal lover and tend to see things that probably aren’t there.
On the contrary; you see things that are obvious but some are half blind.
I watched a video of the 2022 Kentucky Derby yesterday.
The horse that won had 80-1 odds. He only got in because of a last minute scratch.
Down the stretch, he looked like he had another gear in him.
He was like a rocket.
Amazing.
I can’t remember his name.
The big goof had his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth in the stable after the race.
Thank you!
I needed that
His name was Rich Strike. I wish I had put some money on him!
Yes and no.
Man O’War ran at Saratoga 6x. He lost only once.
That once was the 2nd time MOW ever ran there - out of 4x that 2yo season. All stakes (only his debut, BTW, was not a stake).
In the truly old days, you ran FREQUENTLY, even at the great Saratoga when it was truly 1 month!
So, losing 1 race early, out of 6, even 4, really doesn’t represent quite the trope pundits like to push!
