No, but every Russian who takes your phony "classical position" certainly is.
Nothing phony about it when it’s right there in the text
What would the founders make of today. They’d be appalled
“No, but every Russian who takes your phony “classical position” certainly is.”
Maybe Chad believes that the non-phony American “classical position” is more like Woodrow Wilson “Making the World Safe For Democracy” followed by FDR’s “Liberal Internationalism”.
I figure that Wilson was just spouting Progessive Era nonsense, which was also popular with Teddy Roosevelt. That Progressive view of America’s role in policing the world unfortunately ended up setting the stage for the even more destructive Round 2 of the 1914 Great War.
Round 2, WWII, cemented Liberal Internationalism as America’s official foreign policy to such a degree that current conservatives fight like dogs to protect FDR’s legacy. The old FDR era conservatives are largely forgotten, but when they are remembered they are denounced as evil isolationists harboring a phony classical position. Go figure.
But this isn’t going to matter much longer. America is a shell of what it was when Reagan defeated the USSR without firing a shot. In just three decades we have ceased to be an industrial power. The goverment is in debt to an astounding degree. We’ve imported so many alien peoples that there is no more common American culture in places like California. All of the happy talk in the world won’t change that.
